BOEKBEKENDSTELLING:
Uiteindelik vry is oorspronklik in Engels uitgegee as Redeeming the Past deur Struik Christen Media.

PRESS RELEASE

BOOK LAUNCH:
UITEINDELIK VRY by Father Michael Lapsley SSM and Stephen Karakashian
Uiteindelik vry tells the remarkable life story of somebody who used his own misfortune to bring healing to victims of violence – in South Africa and across the world.
In 1990, Fr. Michael Lapsley, an Anglican priest active in the struggle against apartheid in South Africa, opened a letter bomb that nearly killed him. Though he survived, the blast took both his hands and one of his eyes. But it did not destroy his mind and his tongue – hence the birth of his memoires in which he tells his journey – the radical demands of the Word and his growing identification with the freedom struggle. He tells, often not sparing himself, of the comical yet emotional road to live with prostheses and other demands his loss brought about. His own journey to healing brought him to a nation in need of healing. And his daily journey on the road of forgiveness, healing and reconciliation is an inspiration to thousands around the world.
Uiteindelik vry was first published as Redeeming the Past by Struik Christian Media and was awarded the prestigious Andrew Murray-Desmond Tutu prize in 2013. The prize is awarded for the best Christian and theological book in any official language of South Africa.
With Uiteindelik vry now in Afrikaans, even more of our country’s broken people will learn of this gripping events with the hope that more people will live with the promise to be Christ’s hands in the world.
Uiteindelik vry will be launched on 4 February 2016 at the Theological Faculty, Pretoria and on 5 February at Stellenbosch. More information or to attend the launch, contact Driekie Beukes, 021 873 0198 / 072 222 6533 of driekie@clf.co.za
